SOLUTIONSplus is an EU-funded flagship project, bringing together 48 international partners that was launched in January 2020 and has a duration of 4 years. The project aims to boost sustainable electrification of transport in large urban areas in developing countries and emerging economies. The project is coordinated by the Urban Electric Mobility Initiative, a UN-Habitat Action Platform and this call for replication cases is co-facilitated by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).

SOLUTIONSplus brings together highly committed cities, industry, research, implementing organizations and finance partners and establishes a global platform for shared, public and commercial e-mobility solutions to kick start the transition towards low-carbon urban mobility. The project encompasses city level demonstrations to test different types of innovative and integrated e-mobility solutions, complemented by a comprehensive toolbox, capacity development and replication activities. Demonstration actions have been launched in Hanoi (Vietnam), Pasig (Philippines), Lalitpur/Kathmandu (Nepal), Kigali (Rwanda), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Quito (Ecuador), Montevideo (Uruguay), Madrid (Spain), Nanjing (China) and Hamburg (Germany). More information about the SOLUTIONSplus demonstration projects is available on the project website: https://www.solutionsplus.eu/living-labs

Project Description:
We are inviting applications for a sub-contracting opportunity within the SOLUTIONSplus project, a European-funded initiative. This project is a collaborative effort among research facilities, public authorities, and industry partners. Its primary goal is to establish a global platform for shared, public, and commercial e-mobility solutions, thereby accelerating the transition towards low-carbon urban mobility. The project includes city-level demonstrations of various innovative and integrated e-mobility solutions, complemented by a comprehensive toolbox, capacity development, and replication activities.

Role and Tasks:
The subcontractor will be responsible for developing a working plan on market-specific assembly approaches for frugal zero emission vehicles. The duration of this assignment is six months, and it involves the following tasks:

  1. Survey on Boundary Conditions:

    • Technical Analysis: Examine a selected frugal zero emission vehicle concept, focusing on technologies, construction techniques, and overall layout.

    • Market Analysis: Gather information on specific market conditions that affect the vehicle assembly process.

  2. Collaborative Development of Assembly Approaches:

    • Work in close collaboration with the SOLUTIONSplus consortium to develop assembly approaches for the vehicle, considering local market specifics and aiming for a modular, easily realizable approach.

    • Participate in workshops to understand challenges and implement assembly plans at a conceptual level, contributing technical expertise in automotive engineering and production.

Deliverables:
All results of this project will be documented and presented in the form of a PowerPoint presentation.

Application Process:
Interested parties are requested to submit their applications, outlining their relevant experience, proposed approach to the tasks, and estimated budget. Applications should be sent to secretariat@uemi.net.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a pioneering project aiming to revolutionize urban mobility through sustainable and innovative solutions. We look forward to your applications and the prospect of working together towards a greener future.
